Agartala, 11th October 2025 :   Members of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) from North Tripura have lodged a formal complaint with the Dharmanagar police station accusing senior state leaders of financial irregularities and fraud.

The written complaint names BMS State Secretary Tapan Dey, state President Debasree Kalai and Ashim Dutta, State Secretary of the BMS-affiliated BPPTM. The trio stands accused of collecting large sums of money allegedly between Rs 8 to Rs 9 lakh from various BMS members in North Tripura under false pretenses.

Ratan Roy, President of the North District Truck Owners’ Association told reporters that the accused allegedly promised key organizational posts to some members in exchange for money. In other cases, funds were reportedly extracted through digital scanning methods.

Complainants further allege that the three leaders, operating from Agartala, have been deliberately sowing discord among BMS units and labor organizations in Dharmanagar and across North Tripura. “Dharmanagar is a city of peace and culture,” they warned. “If any disruption taking place within BMS in the coming days, these three individuals will bear full responsibility.”

They also expressed concern that the alleged misconduct could politically damage the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), given BMS’s affiliation with the party.

It remains unclear whether police have initiated an investigation into the allegations. However, the complaint has already triggered significant agitation within the district’s labor community.
