Agartala, 12th October 2025: Political tension erupted during Kali Puja in Bishalgarh subdivision, leaving a local Congress leader fearing for his life. The incident took place near the Bishalgarh Subdivision Police Office. Allegedly, leaders of the ruling party demanded that the area be vacated for being associated with Congress activities.

According to sources, Subhash Pal, a state committee member of the Congress Kisan Morcha, organized Kali Puja at the house of Uttam Das, adjacent to his own residence in Murabari. Later that night, a group of miscreants reportedly linked to the ruling party hurled bricks and stones at Pal’s residence.

The situation escalated on Sunday afternoon when Subhash Pal returned from his old house. Around 20–25 individuals, allegedly including Uttam Das, Prosenjit Debnath, and Monty Das, reportedly attacked him while intoxicated. The assailants allegedly threatened his life and verbally abused his wife.

Fearing for his safety, Pal took refuge at the local police station. Upon receiving the news, Dilip Choudhury, Block Congress President, rushed to the scene. Pal filed a formal complaint with Bishalgarh police naming the alleged attackers.

Currently, Subhash Pal has expressed concerns over his safety. In response, Bishalgar police have deployed personnel to ensure security in the area.
