Agartala, 16th October 2025: A woman lost her life in a tragic road accident yesterday highlighting the perilous condition of the road connecting Shilachari, Ailmara, and Jolaibari via Devtamura.
The incident took place when a Commander vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure near Devtamura, causing the driver to lose control and crash. The woman died on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Shilachari Hospital for treatment.
Local residents have long voiced concerns over the deteriorated state of this stretch, which has effectively become a death trap. Minor and major accidents are reported almost daily, yet the Public Works Department has failed to initiate any meaningful repair work.
Despite repeated appeals and the road’s critical role in regional connectivity, authorities remain inactive. Today’s fatality adds to the growing toll of lives lost due to administrative apathy and infrastructural neglect.
