Agartala, 18th October 2025: Allegations of serious irregularities in the renovation of Monti Girls’ Residential English Medium High School under the Mandai Inspector of Schools prompted a surprise inspection by Mandai Bazaar MLA Swapna Debbarma today.
Accompanied by the BDO and Tipra Motha Mandai Block President Tony Debbarma, the legislator expressed strong dissatisfaction over the condition of the school infrastructure.
During the visit, the team reportedly found evidence supporting the complaints, including leaking classrooms during rain and incomplete toilet repairs. MLA Debbarma voiced her anger over the lack of transparency, stating that neither the school’s headmistress nor local officials could confirm which department, contractor, or agency was responsible for the renovation.
“The promised repairs were never carried out. Water seeps into classrooms when it rains, and the toilets remain untouched. No one seems to know who executed the work,” she told reporters.
In response to the findings, the MLA ordered that the renovation be redone properly and held accountable to ensure the safety and dignity of the students.
