Agartala, 31st October 2025: Police from Madhupur Police Station have seized a large consignment of illegal medicines worth approximately Rs 7 lakh that were being smuggled into Bangladesh.
Acting on a tip-off, late Thursday night Assistant Sub-Inspector Uttam Kumar Dutta and a team of officers from Madhupur Police Station set up a watch near Anand Chaumuhani area. Around midnight, they noticed a speeding vehicle coming from the Agartala direction and heading toward the Adarsha Colony border area.
When the police attempted to stop the vehicle the driver tried to evade capture. A brief chase ensued, during which the vehicle got stuck in a roadside ditch. The driver managed to flee the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
Upon searching the car, police discovered a large cache of high-value medicines intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The recovered items included more than 3,000 blood pressure tablets, 1,800 bottles of Scalpox lotion, and over 300 packets of pain relief ointment.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted based on confidential intelligence inputs. The seizure marks a significant success for Madhupur Police in their ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling.
