Agartala, 31st October 2025: A five-member team from the Tripura BJP on Friday visited Santirbazar village in Dhalai district to assess the aftermath of the violent incidents that broke out on October 23 during the statewide bandh called by Tripura Civil Society. The delegation will soon submit a detailed report to Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha.
The team included SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, BJP MLA Swapna Pal, and BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma.
After visiting the affected sites, Minister Sudhangshu Das described the situation as “deeply unfortunate” and condemned the acts of violence that left several shops gutted and many people injured, including a Block Development Officer (BDO) and an engineer. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya, we came here to review the ground reality. The destruction and loss caused are unacceptable. Violence has no place in our society, which stands for peace and unity,” he said.
Das further stated that both tribal and non-tribal communities suffered losses in the incident. “People here—tribal and non-tribal—have always lived together peacefully. Attempts to create division among them are highly condemnable. A few political elements are trying to take advantage of the situation, and I strongly warn them against such actions,” he added.
The minister informed that the state government has already provided interim assistance to the affected families and carried out a preliminary damage assessment. “Once the final evaluation is completed, we will submit a comprehensive report to the Chief Minister,” Das said.
