Agartala, 1st November 2025: The Tripura State AIDS Control Society in collaboration with the State Health and Family Welfare Department and Teresa Welfare Society marked the conclusion of a three-month intensified AIDS awareness campaign with a vibrant cultural event held yesterday at the Vivekananda Open Stage in Panisagar.
The closing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Vice Chairman Dhananjay Debnath, Project Director Janardhan Bhowmik, ICTC Lab Technician Ratneshwar Nath, Counselor Basudev Das, and Socio-Economic Project Manager Sandeep Singh, among others. The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the guests seated on stage.
Launched on August 1 and running through October 31, the campaign aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, and treatment. The finale featured a series of engaging performances and competitions, including a tabla recital, ramp show, and painting contest each themed around AIDS awareness.
One of the highlights of the evening was a ramp show led by transgender participants closely associated with the Society’s outreach efforts in North Tripura. Their powerful presence underscored the importance of inclusivity in public health initiatives.
All participants received certificates and awards from the Tripura State AIDS Control Society in recognition of their contributions to the campaign. Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment, noting that timely medical intervention can enable HIV-positive individuals to lead healthy lives. They also urged the public to avoid intravenous drug use and substance abuse, which are major risk factors for HIV transmission.
In their closing remarks, the guests called upon all sections of society to come forward and actively participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS, formally declaring the end of the three-month special campaign.
