Agartala, 2nd November 2025 : Purnima Jamatia, a resident of Purba Tulamura ADC village under the Matarbari Assembly constituency, had been battling a severe tumor-related condition in her throat for several years. The prolonged illness took a toll not only on her physical health but also deeply affected her family’s emotional well-being.
In a moment of compassion and leadership, local MLA and tribal leader Abhishek Debroy emerged as a beacon of hope. During a routine visit to the area, Debroy learned of Purnima’s deteriorating condition and immediately took personal initiative to assist her. Upon hearing that she had been suffering from the tumor for years, he contacted Dr. Biswajit Pal at Gomati District Hospital and arranged for medical support.
Debroy provided financial assistance from his personal fund to ensure Purnima received proper treatment. She was soon transferred from Gomati District Hospital to the Cancer Hospital in Agartala. Coordinating with the attending doctors, her surgery was successfully conducted under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme.
Following the operation, an emotional Purnima Jamatia expressed heartfelt gratitude. “Today I’ve been given a new life. Without the MLA’s help, this wouldn’t have been possible. I thank the state government and our MLA from the bottom of my heart,” she said.
This act of kindness once again underscored Abhishek Debroy’s reputation not just as a political representative, but as a true guardian of his community—someone who stands by his people in their most difficult times.
