According to the Directorate, recruitment is currently in progress for 1,158 Postgraduate Teachers and 700 Graduate Teachers (Secondary level). The Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT) has already recommended the names of 57 qualified candidates for the post of Special Educator and 106 candidates for the post of Physical Education Teacher.

The Directorate further informed that from 2018 to August 31, 2025, a total of 2,003 teachers have been appointed to fill vacancies arising due to retirements and other causes. During the same period, 1,540 teachers retired from service under the Directorate.

It was also clarified that, following the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order dated March 29, 2017, in SLP Nos. 18993–19049/2014, 10,323 teachers previously serving under the Directorate were terminated from service.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Directorate emphasized that continuous efforts are being made to ensure that all vacant teaching positions are filled in a phased manner.

The Directorate also stated that recent media reports suggesting stagnation in recruitment activities are not consistent with the actual progress made in teacher appointments.
