Agartala,  10th November 2025: Tripura’s Leader of Opposition and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, alleging corruption, fear-driven governance, and systematic suppression of democratic voices.

Addressing a massive rally organized by the CITU Tripura State Committee in Agartala, Chaudhury lauded the resilience of workers, youth, and marginalized communities who defied alleged intimidation and transport disruptions to attend. “Working people cannot be defeated — today you have proven that,” he declared.

The opposition leader accused the administration of indirectly obstructing the rally by scheduling religious programs and fairs at the historic Astabal ground to restrict political gatherings. He alleged that the BJP-IPFT-Tipra Motha coalition had become “directionless and panicked” as public discontent rises.

Chaudhury criticized the government for spending crores on the Hapania infrastructure, claiming it was being used for commercial fairs instead of democratic activities. He asserted that the rally was not for charity or unreasonable demands but for the rightful value of labor, skill, and intellect.

Participants included tea garden and rubber workers, construction laborers, unemployed youth, and daily wage earners. Chaudhury vowed to continue raising the issues of farmers, jhum cultivators, and workers across Tripura.

He also accused the ruling alliance of running governments on “false promises and black money,” alleging widespread corruption both in the state government and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Referring to the upcoming Bihar election results, Chaudhury said a BJP setback there could signal the beginning of its national decline. He concluded by urging people to defend democratic rights amid rising crimes, drug abuse, and what he termed the “moral decay” of governance.
