Agartala,  10th November 2025: Four persons have been arrested by the West Agartala police in connection with the tension that broke out in the Border Gol Chakkar area on Sunday evening.

Police officials have declined to reveal the identities of the detainees, citing the interest of the ongoing investigation.

According to police sources, the unrest began following a minor altercation between two individuals, which soon escalated and triggered tension in the locality. In connection with the incident and the subsequent vandalism of a shop, two separate cases have been registered, leading to the arrest of four persons.

To bring the situation under control, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed to the area on Sunday night and conducted a flag march to ensure peace and normalcy.

Speaking at a press conference at the West Agartala Police Station on Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police (Additional SP) Dhruv Nath said the incident was purely a result of a personal dispute and had no communal or organized links.

“Yesterday’s incident was just a general dispute. Some quarters tried to divert it in other directions, but the situation was swiftly brought under control due to timely police intervention,” Nath said.

He added that the situation in the area is now peaceful and that the police remain alert to prevent any further untoward incidents. The arrested individuals are being interrogated, and more people may be called in for questioning if necessary.

West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rana Chatterjee was also present at the press conference.
