Library Week 2025 inaugurated at CSU, Ekalavya Campus

Agartala, 15th November 2025:   Central Sanskrit University (CSU), Ekalavya Campus, Lembucherra, has launched Library Week 2025 with a week-long celebration aimed at promoting reading habits and highlighting the importance of libraries in academic life. The programme, running from November 14 to 20, features a series of academic and creative activities designed to engage students and foster intellectual growth.

The inaugural ceremony, held on November 14, was presided over by Prof. Makhlesh Kumar, Director of CSU, Ekalavya Campus. Prof. Sushant Raj, Head of the Department of Sahitya, attended as Chief Guest, while Dr. Umesh Chandra Mishra, Head of the Department of Vyakaran, joined as Guest of Honour.

In his address, Prof. Kumar praised the initiative, noting that “a vibrant library reflects the academic culture of an institution. Such activities strengthen students’ intellectual curiosity and broaden their vision.” He urged students to make regular use of the library for both academic and personal enrichment.

Chief Guest Prof. Raj emphasized the role of literature in shaping values, remarking that “books are not merely sources of information; they are companions that inspire creativity and refine emotions.” He encouraged students to read beyond the curriculum.

Guest of Honour Dr. Mishra commended the library staff, stressing that “libraries play a vital role in preserving traditional knowledge systems. Activities like book reviews and slogan competitions help students connect with classical texts meaningfully.”

The week-long programme features a Book Exhibition on November 15, followed by a Book Review on November 17. A Knowledge Festival Competition will be held on November 18, while Poster and Slogan Competitions are scheduled for November 19. The celebrations will conclude on November 20 with a Closing Ceremony and the Best Readers’ Honour.

The event is coordinated by Sudhangshu Soni, Professional Assistant at the Central Library, CSU Ekalavya Campus.
