Bhujjur resident arrested with firearms in joint BSF–Police raid

Agartala, 15th November 2025:   A man from Bhujjur area under Srimantapur panchayat was arrested in the early morning after a firearm and cartridges were recovered from his residence during a joint operation by the BSF and Sonamura police. The incident has triggered widespread sensation in the locality.

Sources said police had received a tip-off regarding illegal weapons being stored at the house of Babul Mia. Acting on the information, a joint team of BSF personnel and Sonamura police conducted a raid at the residence.

During the search, Babul Mia and his wife Morsheda Begum allegedly attempted to obstruct the operation and engaged in a scuffle with the security personnel. The officials, however, brought the situation under control swiftly.

Both were subsequently detained, and a firearm along with ammunition was seized from the house. Police officials said an inquiry has been launched to trace the origin of the weapon and identify any possible links to others involved. The investigation is ongoing.
