Taxes Organization & ICAI sign MoU to enhance GST skills in Tripura

Agartala, 21st November 2025:   The State Taxes Organization and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening skills related to Goods and Services Tax (GST) among officials, merchant associations, and business communities.

The signing ceremony was held at Conference Hall No. 2 of the State Secretariat, where a brief program marked the occasion. Speaking at the event, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy emphasized the importance of training for all stakeholders involved in GST implementation. “For the welfare of the people and the nation, it is essential to ensure smooth execution of GST. This MoU is a practical step toward achieving that goal,” he said.

Chairman of the GST and Indirect Taxes Committee, CA Rajendra Kumar, highlighted ICAI’s role as one of India’s premier institutions. He noted that ICAI has already signed similar MoUs with 11 states, including Tripura. “Chartered accountants act as a bridge between taxpayers and the government, ensuring coordination and compliance,” Kumar remarked.

State Tax Chief Commissioner Dr. Akinchan Sarkar delivered the welcome address. The program was attended by ICAI member CA Smita Mishra along with senior officials from the Finance Department.
