Sudip slams govt over rising political violence in ADC

Agartala, 24th November 2025:  Pradesh Congress Committee MLA Sudip Roy Barman today strongly criticized the growing incidents of political violence in the TTAADC of Tripura.

Urging all parties to shun hostility, he said, “Abandon the path of violence; violence can never be the ultimate solution. Bring smiles to people’s faces — there is no greater achievement than that.”

Reacting sharply to the recent violent clashes in Khumulwng, Roy Barman questioned the government’s role and alleged administrative failure in controlling the situation.

According to him, unrest in Khumulwng was not unprecedented, but earlier incidents had no political angle.

“Political clashes in the hills never happened in the past — old records will prove it. Why is it happening now? Such tendencies began after the BJP came to power. This culture entered the state with this government,” he alleged, adding that people would not forget what they were witnessing today.

Referring to the controversial remarks by Minister Animesh Debbarma, the Congress MLA said such statements were harmful for the state’s administrative and political atmosphere. He also noted that the Khumulwng incident had created panic among hill residents and that the government could not escape responsibility.

Responding to media questions, Roy Barman said allegations raised by the opposition were validated by comments coming from within the ruling alliance itself.

“If the opposition’s claims were baseless, the government should have responded directly. But when an ally indirectly acknowledges the opposition’s remarks, it raises a valid question — is the government truly failing to control the situation?” he said.

On Chief Minister Manik Saha’s claim that the state’s healthcare services have improved, Roy Barman launched a scathing attack.

“The chief minister says the health system is improving. Yet whenever a political leader falls ill, they are admitted to private hospitals. If leaders don’t trust government hospitals, how can common people?”

Calling for the restoration of a peaceful political environment, the MLA emphasized that politics should serve the people above all. He urged all political parties to work collectively to ensure stability in the hill regions and end the cycle of violence.
