Agartala, 24th November 2025:  An auto-rickshaw parked outside a residence in Udaipur’s Sonamura Chowmuhani area was stolen late last night, sparking concern among locals over rising thefts and alleged police inaction.

Reportedly, the vehicle’s owner Mukhfus Ali Khadim returned home around 10 pm after a day’s work and left his auto-rickshaw parked near his house, as is common practice among many drivers in the locality.

This morning, while leaving for prayers, Khadim found that his vehicle was missing. Despite searching the area, he was unable to trace it and subsequently lodged a complaint at Radha Kishorepur police station.

Later, information surfaced that the auto-rickshaw bearing registration number TR 03 B 2810 had been abandoned in Tepania. The recovery brought relief to Khadim and his family, but questions have been raised about the police response.

Residents allege that despite several incidents of theft in recent months, authorities have failed to take effective action against those involved. The incident has reignited public frustration over law enforcement’s role in ensuring safety in Udaipur.
