Block-level awareness workshop on livestock development held at Tepania

Agartala, 25th November 2025:    A day-long block-level awareness campaign and workshop under the National Livestock Mission was organized today at Bagmara Community Hall, Tepania R.D. Block. The programme, aimed at promoting livestock development and modern scientific practices, was organized by the Bagmara ARD Department. Farmers, livestock rearers, animal husbandry workers, and members of various self-help groups actively participated in the event.

The workshop was inaugurated by Ramchandra Debnath, Vice-Chairman of Tepania Panchayat Samiti. He was accompanied by Dr. Bilba Debbarma, Deputy Director of Udaipur Animal Resources Development Department; Debabrata Sarkar, Lead District Manager of Gomati; Dilip Majumdar, Assistant Director of Udaipur DVH; and Sudip Majumdar, Managing Director of Bagmara BAPCL, along with several officials from the department.

In his inaugural address, Ramchandra Debnath emphasized that the core objective of the National Livestock Mission is to support rural livestock farmers, establish sustainable animal husbandry systems, and create avenues for income generation. He highlighted the importance of such workshops in ensuring that government schemes and subsidies reach the grassroots effectively.

Delivering a special lecture, Dr. Bilba Debbarma provided detailed guidance on modern livestock technologies, disease prevention, feed management, and strategies to enhance productivity. Gomati district LDM Debabrata Sarkar discussed banking facilities, subsidies, entrepreneurship development, and credit-linked schemes available for livestock farmers.

Experts also presented insights on: Benefits of improved livestock breeds; Sustainable milk production and market expansion; Modern methods in poultry, goat, and pig farming; Importance of vaccination and disease prevention; and Application procedures for government schemes.

The interactive session saw farmers and livestock rearers actively engaging in a question-and-answer round, where officials addressed their concerns and assured further training programmes in the future.

The event concluded successfully under the efficient coordination of the Bagmara Livestock Development Department. Organizers announced plans to expand similar awareness programmes across other areas of the block. At the closing ceremony, beneficiaries of various livestock projects received financial assistance cheques from the dignitaries.
