Agartala, 27th November 2025: Tripura Opposition Leader Jitendra Choudhury has accused Chief Minister Manik Saha of running a “fascist-style government” following an alleged attack on Left party workers during a programme in Dharmanagar.
Condemning the incident in strong terms, Chaudhury said the assault on opposition activists in broad daylight, near a police station, was unacceptable. He alleged that BJP workers carried out the attack during the Left’s nationwide programme, while police stood by without intervening.
“On one hand, the Chief Minister speaks of good governance across the state. On the other, his repeated failures in maintaining law and order are evident. Instead of taking responsibility, he tries to shift the blame onto the CPI(M),” Chaudhury remarked.
The Opposition Leader further charged that the administration is being used to suppress dissent. “The Chief Minister is attempting to run a fascist-style government, and the police are being deployed accordingly,” he said.
Chaudhury demanded immediate legal action against those responsible for the attack, as well as disciplinary measures against officials present at the scene who failed to act.
