Agartala, 3rd December 2025: Aiming to enhance seed quality and improve agricultural productivity in the state, the Tripura State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Tripura MARKFED) Ltd. signed an agreement with the Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Ltd. (BBSSL).
As per a report the collaboration seeks to ensure the availability of high-quality certified seeds through a cooperative framework, increase crop productivity, and promote the conservation of traditional crop varieties.
The agreement was formalized at the conference hall of Tripura MARKFED in Agartala in the presence of Chairman Abhijit Deb and members of the Board of Directors. The pact was signed by Dr. Ombir Singh, Advisor of BBSSL, and Yogesh Reang, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Managing Director (MD) of Tripura MARKFED.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Abhijit Deb said the partnership would significantly benefit both the cooperative movement and farmers by supporting the use of certified, high-quality seeds.
Dr. Ombir Singh emphasized BBSSL’s commitment to strengthening the seed sector while preserving traditional crop varieties. He highlighted that special attention would be given to Tripura’s indigenous crops under this collaboration.The announcement was made through an official press release issued by Tripura MARKFED.
