Agartala, 4th December 2025: In a significant step toward empowering women residing in border regions, the Directorate of Skill Development, Tripura, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Land Port Authority of India. The agreement aims to expand skill development opportunities using the existing facilities at the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Agartala.
The MoU was formally signed at the office of the Director of Skill Development. Under this collaboration, multiple facilities at the Akhaura ICP — including a 30-seater conference hall, a smart classroom, meeting rooms, and other modern infrastructure — will be made available for women-centric training programs starting from the last week of December.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pradip K., Director of the Skill Development Department, highlighted that the initiative will enable the department to offer various IT-based training programs, in addition to courses such as Accounting Assistance, GST, and Tally. These programs are designed to equip women with practical and employable skills.
Debashis Nandi, Manager of the Tripura Integrated Check Post, shared that similar efforts will soon be replicated at the Sabroom and Srimantapur ICPs, ensuring wider access to skill development across the state.This partnership marks a meaningful step toward fostering inclusive growth and improving livelihood opportunities for women in Tripura’s border communities.
