Agartala, 8th December 2025:  After six agonizing days of uncertainty, the mortal remains of intern doctor Saptarshi Das, a native of Ramnagar in Agartala, were finally brought back to his home state today morning. Saptarshi, along with three of his friends—all medical students—tragically lost their lives in a horrific road accident in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, last Wednesday night.

Due to complications involving air transport, the body could not be flown home earlier, prolonging the family’s suffering. Ultimately, the remains had to be transported by road, reaching his residence in a coffin that symbolized an irreplaceable loss.

The accident in Amroha cast a permanent shadow over the lives of four young medical students who had once dreamt of serving society as doctors. Among them was Saptarshi Das, the only child of his grief-stricken parents—parents who had built their hopes, dreams, and future entirely around him. What was once a house filled with pride and anticipation for his medical career is now immersed in unspeakable sorrow.

Saptarshi’s parents, who had once celebrated every step of his progress in the medical field, stood helpless and shattered. They were unable even to touch their child one last time. Neighbors stood quietly beside them, many unable to hold back their tears as grief engulfed the community.

Several prominent figures—including Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumdar—visited the residence to pay their final respects.

The Chief Minister expressed profound sorrow, stating that words were not enough to describe the tragedy. He noted that Saptarshi was the lone child of his parents and prayed for strength for the bereaved family. He also mentioned that the administration had made every possible effort to bring the body back at the earliest, but complications with the airline made it impossible to expedite the process. He extended his deepest condolences to the family.
