Agartala, 11th December 2025: The Member Secretary of the National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Souvik Debbarma, conducted a surprise inspection of healthcare facilities in Unakoti district today. His visit included a detailed review of services at RGM Hospital, where he examined medical care arrangements, the blood testing unit, and the internet-based laboratory reporting system, among other key facilities.
During the inspection, Dr. Debbarma was accompanied by District Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Shirshendu Chakma, District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Rohan Pal, and RGM Hospital SDMO Dr. Papia Rudra Pal.
Sources revealed that the inspection was prompted by complaints alleging that blood testing services at the hospital had been suspended. However, after reviewing the situation, Dr. Debbarma clarified that testing had not stopped. Instead, disruptions in internet connectivity had caused delays in issuing reports over the past three days. He confirmed that the technical issue has now been resolved.
Addressing another concern, Dr. Debbarma noted that the hospital’s X-ray technician had been on leave since November 23. “The technician has rejoined today. However, during such absences, staff should be deputed from other facilities to ensure continuity. In future, the administration will take alternative measures to avoid service gaps,” he stated.
Concluding his visit, Dr. Debbarma assured that all hospital services are currently functioning normally and emphasized that the health department remains vigilant to prevent inconvenience to patients. Following his review of RGM Hospital, he also inspected Unakoti District Hospital to assess its operations.
