Agartala, 13th December 2025: A serious accident took place near Padma Nagar, close to Bishramganj Railway Station, when the luxury vehicle of Tipra Motha leader Motilal Debbarma collided head-on with the official car of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta.
According to Partha Datta, the driver of the Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati’s vehicle, the incident took place while he was returning from a program at Melaghar, heading towards a meeting at the Bishramganj District Magistrate’s office. He stated that a speeding car suddenly approached from the opposite direction, forcing him to make a split-second decision.
In a bid to save lives, Datta swerved the vehicle between two electric poles and into a roadside jungle drain. His quick thinking ensured the safety of Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta, her security personnel and himself.
“If I hadn’t steered the car into the jungle, all of us including the driver of the other vehicle might have lost our lives,” Datta told reporters, describing the incident as a narrow escape from a potentially fatal crash.
Following the accident, the Zilla Parishad chairperson and her security team reported the matter to Bishramganj Police Station. The incident has sparked widespread concern across the Bishramganj area. Despite the ordeal, Supriya Das Datta proceeded to attend the scheduled meeting at the District Magistrate’s office.
