Agartala, 14th December 2025: A wave of panic spread across the outskirts of the city following a brutal murder late last night. The incident took place in the West Durgapur area near Babul Choumuhani under Amtali Police Station limits, where Subrata Chowdhury was mercilessly killed in front of his own house.
According to police sources, the accused in the case include Nintu Chakraborty, Shanku Chakraborty, and Priyotosh Chowdhury. The identity of another accused is yet to be ascertained. It has been alleged that one of the accused is the son of a local woman leader.
Soon after the incident, tension gripped the area. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. In connection with the murder at Babul Choumuhani, police have already arrested one of the accused, Shanku Chakraborty.
On Sunday, the arrested accused was produced before the court, where police sought five days of police remand. Police officials stated that efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused and that multiple angles are being examined in the interest of the investigation.
