Agartala, 14th December 2025:  Founder of the Tipra Motha Party and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma today announced that a “Homchang Rally” will be held on the 18th of December in Agartala, jointly with various students’ bodies, in support of the demand for allowing the Roman script in examinations.

He said the rally would be organised with the participation of Tiprasa students’ organisations, including TSF, TYSF, Jamatia Students’ bodies and others.

In a strong statement, Debbarma said he stands firmly with Tiprasa students on the script issue.

“I am with my students. Which script we will use and which script we will write in examinations should be decided by us. This issue is bigger than politics—it is about survival, existence, and the future,” he said, appealing to all students’ organisations to unite behind the movement.

His remarks come amid intensifying political activity ahead of the upcoming TTAADC elections, still months away, but already marked by sharp exchanges between the BJP and Tipra Motha. On Saturday, the BJP organised a major joining programme in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, where party leaders claimed that the BJP would form the government by winning 28 seats in the forthcoming ADC polls.

Responding to the BJP’s claims, Debbarma took to social media with a counterattack, stating that “everyone knows what is actually going to happen.” He raised questions over the continued denial of permission to write Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations in Roman script, alleging discrimination against Tiprasa students. “Ministers’ children can study in English-medium schools. Why can’t Tiprasas have the same opportunity?” he asked.

Debbarma further alleged attempts to weaken Tipra Motha through monetary offers to MLAs and MDCs, followed by intimidation through legal threats, but claimed such efforts had failed. Reiterating his commitment, he said the party’s struggle for tribal rights would continue unabated.
