Agartala, 14th December 2025:  Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury today has demanded the immediate dismissal of Minister Bikash Debbarma over his alleged controversial remarks made at a meeting of the BJP’s Janajati Morcha.

Chaudhury accused the minister of using highly objectionable and threatening language against the Tipra Motha party.

According to Chaudhury, Minister Debbarma allegedly threatened to “skin Tipra Motha leaders like poultry chickens,” a statement he described as undemocratic, abusive, and unbefitting of a minister or a civilised individual. He said that if Tipra Motha was involved in any unlawful activities, the minister should have demanded action strictly in accordance with the law instead of issuing threats from a public stage.

“The government is doing nothing except making hollow statements. This kind of language cannot be expected from a minister,” Chaudhury said. He termed it unfortunate that such remarks were made from a public stage in the presence of the Chief Minister, two other ministers, and the state BJP president who is also a Member of Parliament.

Chaudhury further alleged that the minister’s speech contained no mention of the government’s public welfare work. Instead, it was filled with words like “revenge,” “we will see,” “we will turn to ashes,” accompanied by threatening gestures and the use of vulgar language.

Calling for the attention of the Chief Minister and the Governor, the Leader of the Opposition demanded that Bikash Debbarma should not remain in the Council of Ministers even for a moment. “This is not just a matter of condemnation. Legal action must be taken under existing laws,” he said.

He also urged the police officers present at the event to immediately register a case and take action as per law. “If those who violate the law are not punished, they become more encouraged. If the Chief Minister fails to take action, then the responsibility will lie with him as well,” Chaudhury added.
