Agartala, 20th December 2025 :  Tension flared in Teliamura after a heated altercation broke out between a female passenger and a bus conductor over fare issues. Following a police complaint, both the driver and conductor were detained, sparking protests from bus owners and staff.

In retaliation, bus operators abruptly suspended services from Chandrapur ISBT today, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded. The sudden shutdown disrupted routes across the region, causing severe inconvenience to daily passengers, office-goers, students, and long-distance travelers.

It is reported that the incident took place yesterday on a Teliamura-bound bus when a dispute over fare escalated into a verbal clash. Local residents also became agitated, and the passenger later lodged a written complaint at the police station. Acting on the complaint, police detained the driver and conductor.

Protesting the arrests, a section of bus owners and employees decided to halt services from Chandrapur ISBT. As a result, all buses operating from the terminal were withdrawn, creating chaos for commuters. Elderly passengers, women, and children were particularly affected due to the lack of alternative transport.

Stranded passengers expressed frustration, calling the suspension of services over a personal dispute “unjustified.” They urged immediate administrative intervention to restore normalcy and prevent further public hardship.
