Agartala, 22nd December 2025: A tragic accident took place yesterday evening when an auto-rickshaw plunged into the Khowai River near the Vishwakarma temple at Chakmaghat under Mungiakami police station. The vehicle was returning from the Tring festival when it lost control on the national highway and veered off the road.
It is reported that four passengers’ two young women and two young men sustained injuries in the crash. The auto-rickshaw driver identified as Ramesh Debbarma was critically injured. He was rescued by locals and rushed to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Locals said residents quickly gathered at the site and initiated rescue efforts before police arrived to take control of the situation. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
