Agartala, 24th December 2025: A Intense political tension gripped the capital this evening after miscreants allegedly attacked a rally organized by the CPI(M) at Akhaura Road. Party sources claimed several CPI(M) workers were injured in the incident, while motorcycles belonging to supporters were vandalized.

The rally, held near Agantuk Club under the initiative of the CPI(M) subdivision committee, focused on pressing public issues, the restoration of democracy in the state, and the demand for rule of law. CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Choudhury, along with other senior leaders, addressed the gathering.

Locals informed that the rally concluded peacefully before a group of miscreants suddenly advanced towards the venue, shouting slogans against CPI(M). They reportedly raised provocative chants targeting opposition leaders and attempted to storm the site in full view of police. When police tried to restrain them, scuffles broke out, followed by stone-pelting and brick-throwing at the rally ground, triggering chaos. Several motorcycles of CPI(M) workers were also damaged during the attack.

As the situation escalated, police resorted to mild baton charge to disperse the crowd. Additional forces, including central security personnel, were deployed, and the entire area was brought under tight security cover.

CPI(M) leaders have squarely blamed the ruling party for orchestrating the violence, alleging that the attack was carried out deliberately in the presence of police. The incident has heightened political unrest across the capital. West Agartala Police Station has launched an investigation, while reinforcements remain stationed in the area to maintain order.
