Agartala, 24th December 2025: The Radhanagar Bus Owners’ Syndicate has announced an indefinite suspension of bus services on the Radhanagar–Kamalpur route via Khowai, citing violations of agreed rules at the Khowai bus stand. The decision was declared by Syndicate General Secretary Subir Dey during a press conference at Radhanagar stand this evening.
Dey informed that the bus owners from Kamalpur, Khowai and Radhanagar had earlier agreed that buses arriving from Kamalpur would be allowed nine minutes at the Khowai stand to pick up and drop passengers. Initially, the arrangement was functioning smoothly.
However, in recent days, Kamalpur buses have reportedly been restricted to only five minutes at the stand. Without consultation, the Khowai Bus Owners’ Committee reduced the time limit from nine minutes to five. Additionally, buses overtaking Khowai vehicles were allegedly stopped and subjected to harassment.
In protest, Kamalpur bus owners on Tuesday redirected vehicles bound for Agartala, forcing passengers to disembark at Manik Bhandar. By Wednesday, bus owners from both Agartala and Kamalpur had halted services entirely. Buses arriving from Khowai were allowed to drop passengers at Radhanagar stand but were then sent back empty.
The Syndicate has confirmed that services on the Radhanagar–Kamalpur via Khowai route will remain suspended indefinitely until the dispute is resolved.
