Agartala, 1st January 2026 : In a gesture of support following a tragic incident, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has extended financial assistance to the family of the late Anjel Chakma. The decision comes soon after Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party and royal scion, appealed to the council to provide aid to the bereaved family.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purna Chandra Jamatia personally visited the residence of the Chakma family to hand over a cheque of ₹3,00,000 (Three Lakh Rupees), fulfilling a previously announced commitment by the council. According to TTAADC officials, this financial assistance is part of the administration’s ongoing effort to support families in times of distress and to provide immediate relief following unforeseen tragedies.
Expressing his condolences, CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia said, “It is our moral responsibility to stand by the family in this difficult time. We hope that this support can help alleviate some of their immediate burdens, and we remain committed to assisting them in any way necessary in the future.”
The late Anjel Chakma, aged 24, tragically lost his life in Dehradun after being brutally attacked on December 9. Reports suggest that Anjel and his brother were subjected to racial slurs, including being called ‘Chinese’, by intoxicated men prior to the attack. The incident sparked widespread concern and brought attention to the need for protection against racially motivated violence.
