Agartala, 10th January 2026: A new initiative to foster literature and culture has taken shape in Santirbazar with the formation of the Santirbazar Sahitya Parishad. The council was formally constituted during a preparatory meeting held at the Santirbazar Municipal Conference Hall, presided over by noted writer Amar Mitra.
The Parishad aims to bring together poets, writers, and cultural enthusiasts of the subdivision under one platform to invigorate literary activities, nurture young talent, and showcase local literature and culture at the state and national level.
The meeting was attended by key dignitaries including Municipal Chairperson Swapna Baidya, Vice Chairperson Satyabrata Saha, South District Council member Shambhu Manik, along with 26 poets and writers from across the subdivision.
By unanimous decision, a full-fledged executive and advisory committee was formed. Vice Chairperson Satyabrata Saha was named President of the executive committee, while Tapas Dutta was elected General Secretary. Writer Amar Mitra was appointed as the head of the advisory committee.
Plans were also announced to publish the council’s own literary journal and organize a series of cultural and literary events in the coming days. The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Chairperson Swapna Baidya, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Santirbazar’s literary journey.
