Krishnanagar theft case: Youth held, Rs 6.8 lakh cash Seized

Agartala, 11th January 2026:   West Agartala police station staff has swiftly cracked a major theft case in the Krishnanagar area here, recovering a large portion of the stolen money and arresting one suspect.

According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, officers conducted a raid and arrested a youth identified as Amal Adhikari. From his possession, police recovered Rs 6.8 lakh in cash, a stolen wristwatch, and other items. The total amount stolen in the incident was reported to be Rs 7.2 lakh.

Speaking to the media, Additional SP Dhruva Nath said that investigators had obtained crucial leads during the probe, which enabled them to apprehend the accused quickly. He added that efforts are underway to recover the remaining money and to determine whether others were involved in the crime.

Local residents have expressed relief and appreciation for the police’s prompt action, noting that the recovery has restored a sense of security in the area.
