Agartala, 12th January 2026:  All-round development is not possible without including everyone and we must work unitedly for the progress of the state.

This was said by Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath after the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Primary Rural Market Development Project at Sankhala Bazar in Khowai district today.

The Minister said that the first sector for the development of the state is agriculture, which is the base.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with the state and central governments, is working to strengthen agriculture and for this we are emphasizing agriculture. Before 2018 the then government, in the last seven years had set up 71 agriculture markets and spent Rs 20.60 crore. In our seven years from 2018 we have set up 204 agriculture markets and spent Rs 461.83 crore. In Khowai before 2018, only Rs 2 crore was spent for 8 agriculture markets, whereas we have spent Rs 43 crore for Khowai district,” said the Agriculture Minister.

He informed that due to agriculture markets, farmers would benefit after cultivating their products.

“We must strengthen our agriculture markets for the benefit of the farmers. At present we have 554 agriculture markets across the state, including 21 regulated markets, 63 wholesale markets, and 470 rural markets. Six more projects for Khowai district have been sanctioned, including Baijalbari, South Singicherra, Champahour, Kalyanpur, Haoaibari, and Chakmaghat. We will set up markets in each and every area. All-round development is not possible without including everyone. We must work for the progress of the state with everyone,” said the Minister.

During the event, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Executive Member Suhel Debbarma, Vice Chairman Surajit Debbarma, social activists Alendra Debbarma and Sukesh Debbarma, Director Phani Bhusan Jamatia, and others were present.
