Agartala, 17th November 2026: With just a few days left for Saraswati Puja, educational institutions and households are gearing up to welcome the goddess of learning. Across idol-making hubs, artisans are working tirelessly from dawn to dusk, giving final touches to clay structures that are gradually coming alive with colors and intricate designs.
Local clay sculptors say the process is in full momentum from building the framework to layering clay, painting and decorating the idols. “The work is progressing step by step, and we are racing against time to meet deadlines,” shared one artisan.
However, several craftsmen noted that demand for idols this year appears slightly lower compared to previous years. Even so, they remain optimistic that last-minute orders will rise as the festival approaches.
Despite the dip in demand, the festive spirit is unmistakable in the idol-making neighborhoods. With busy hands and hopeful hearts, artisans continue weaving dreams into clay, awaiting the arrival of Goddess Saraswati.
