Agartala, 18th January 2026:   Acting on a tip-off, a joint force comprising police and TSR personnel conducted a late-night raid in the Hazari Choumuhani area under Bishalgarh police station.

The operation lasted nearly six hours led to the seizure of a large quantity of illegally imported clothing, mobile phone displays and explosives.

The raid began around 8 pm and continued until 1 am, with teams led by Sepahijala district Additional Superintendent of Police Rajib Sutradhar and Bishalgarh SDPO Bikash Senthiya. Dog squad units, forensic experts and a sizeable police contingent assisted in the operation.

The contraband was recovered from the residence of Boru Banik, also known as Ajit Banik in Hazari Choumuhani. Alongside the seizure, police destroyed a cannabis plantation located near the house.

Authorities estimate the market value of the confiscated items to exceed Rs 1 crore. However, no arrests were made as the house was found deserted during the raid.

Preliminary investigations suggest the goods were stored with the intention of being smuggled into Bangladesh. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
