Agartala, 21st January 2026: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of the state’s Statehood Day, joining other national leaders in celebrating the spirit and progress of the Northeastern region.
In her message, President Murmu greeted the people of Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur, praising the Northeastern states for their rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and extraordinary natural beauty. She lauded the enterprising and talented people of the region for their valuable contributions to the nation’s progress and expressed hope that their future would be marked by peace, harmony and prosperity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed special greetings to the people of Tripura, highlighting the state’s inspiring journey that reflects a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. He noted that Tripura has witnessed pioneering transformations across multiple sectors and emphasized the important role its people continue to play in strengthening India’s growth momentum. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the state would scale new heights in the years to come.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes, stating that Tripura has achieved remarkable progress in development and has emerged as a proud contributor to India’s growth story. He expressed optimism that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha would continue to lead the state forward, fulfilling the aspirations of its people under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging Tripura’s consistent contributions to national development. He described the state as a symbol of harmony and tradition, renowned for its rich culture and heritage.
Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also wished the people of Tripura on their Foundation Day. Highlighting the Northeast’s vibrant culture and history, he emphasized the region’s integral role in India’s diversity and called for strengthening unity through peace, harmony and shared prosperity.
Statehood Day celebrations across the Northeastern states served as a reminder of their historic journey and reaffirmed their growing importance in India’s social, cultural and economic landscape.
