NBIRT holds special awareness program on entrepreneurship

Agartala, 21st January 2026:   . NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) organized a special Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship yesterday at Conference hall of ARKANEER, Sekerkote for Bamboo artisans, Beneficiaries of Solar Dryer, Biogas Plant, Bamboo cultivators, Farmers under SUNIL Project of Science & Technology Department, Govt. of India.

The program began on a positive and welcoming note, with a warm greeting extended to all present by Debasmita Ganguly, Research Scholar of NBIRT. The event was organized with the aim of creating a common platform where experience, knowledge and grassroots entrepreneurship could come together. The awareness program proved to be truly special, as it brought skilled artisans and aspiring entrepreneurs under one roof, encouraging learning, interaction and inspiration.

The program was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest J. C. Kalita, Guwahati, Assam, whose speech added immense value to the event. Kalita is a former Faculty Member of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) under Ministry of Skill and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of a Farmer Producer Company under a World Bank supported project of the Government of Assam. At present, he is actively engaged as a Resource Person and Consultant and is associated with several reputed institutions such as NIRDPR, NEHHDC, IIE and various Colleges/Institutions. Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Kalita has been deeply involved in social and cultural activities. His close association with the Ahom Sahitya Sabha and his continued work as a social worker reflect his commitment to community development and social welfare. His extensive experience in entrepreneurship development, rural livelihoods and institutional capacity building has inspired many individuals and institutions alike. In addition to his professional contributions, he has made notable contributions to literature by authoring several books that seamlessly blend entrepreneurial thought with social development. His works have received wide appreciation both nationally and internationally. Despite his busy schedule, Kalita graciously joined the program and shared his valuable insights and thoughts with the bamboo artisans, beneficiaries, farmers and other entrepreneur. His address was both insightful and motivating, offering practical guidance to skilled artisans and emerging entrepreneurs. His words encouraged the participants to move forward with confidence, clarity and a renewed sense of purpose. On behalf of the organizers and all those present, a heartfelt welcome was once again extended to the Chief Guest. As a mark of respect and gratitude, J. C. Kalita was felicitated with a bouquet and uttariya given by Payel Debnath, IT Assistant, NBIRT. Anup Dey, Project Officer, ML Acharjee, Sr. Executive member & other team member of SUNIL project of NBIRT were present in this event. The organizers expressed sincere appreciation for his presence, guidance and inspiring address.

The program concluded on a note of gratitude, leaving a lasting impression on the participants and reaffirming the importance of knowledge sharing, mentorship and collaboration in fostering entrepreneurship and community development. Kalita also expressed his pleasure to meet our artisans, beneficiaries and serve some very important strategies and business ideas before setting up business.
