Action Taken Report on AIIMS–Tripura MoU Reviewed by Chief Minister

Agartala, 30th January 2026:The Action Taken Report (ATR) prepared in connection with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura was reviewed today by  Chief Minister and Minister of Health and Family Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha.

The review meeting was held through video conference with the Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, Prof. M. Srinivas, and senior officials from both sides.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tripura, informed that the ATR outlining the steps taken under the MoU signed on October 17, 2025, was prepared and presented during the meeting held on January 28, 2026.

As per the MoU, several key administrative reforms are currently underway and have been partially implemented. These include the formation of a unified workforce, enhancement of financial capacity, and the development of IT-enabled systems aimed at the establishment of Health Universities in the state. Recruitment of manpower is being carried out through the Health Department and the Tripura Public Service Commission in accordance with existing government rules.

In coordination with AIIMS, initiatives have been launched for faculty development, training, and skill upgradation. Significant steps have also been taken in the field of medical education and academic development, including the introduction of new departments, skill-based courses, revision of service rules, and training programs at AIIMS to improve the overall quality of medical education.

On the hospital services and infrastructure front, efforts are ongoing to strengthen emergency services, expand ICU facilities, operationalize operation theatres, introduce modern medical equipment through the PPP model, and develop an efficient supply chain system.

To enhance patient satisfaction and digital health initiatives, the ‘Mera Hospital’ mobile application has been made available. Coordination has also been initiated for the adoption of AIIMS’ ‘Santosh’ app to systematically collect patient feedback and further improve service quality.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare reiterated that the Government of Tripura, in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, remains committed to the comprehensive development of medical education and healthcare services across the state.

The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Immunization Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Health Education Prof. (Dr.) H.P. Sharma, Joint Director of Health Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Medical Superintendent of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami, and Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar.
