33.10 crore scholarships sanctioned for OBC students in Tripura: Santana Chakma

Agartala, 30th January 2026: In a major boost to educational welfare in Tripura, Minister Santana Chakma has welcomed the allocation of ₹33.10 crore for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for Other Backward Classes (OBC) students pursuing higher education in the state.

Expressing gratitude to the Union Government, the Minister said, “I extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Honorable Minister of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar Ji, for already allocating a total of ₹33.10 crore for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for OBC students studying in higher education in Tripura.”

Acknowledging the role of the state leadership, Santana Chakma added, “I also express my profound gratitude to our Honorable Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha Ji, for his tireless efforts in this important matter. His continuous engagement with the Union Government has made this long-standing demand a reality.”

The Minister assured students and guardians that the long wait for financial assistance is nearing an end. “I want to assure all the OBC students of Tripura that your scholarship funds will be disbursed very soon. The government is fully committed to ensuring timely release so that no student faces hurdles in continuing their education,” she said.

Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Santana Chakma noted that the scholarship support would strengthen inclusive education and empower students from OBC communities to pursue their academic aspirations without financial stress.

Concluding her statement on an optimistic note, the Minister said, “I wish a bright, long, and prosperous future for everyone involved in this noble and welfare-oriented initiative. Education is the strongest foundation for social justice, and this step will significantly contribute to the overall development of Tripura.”

The allocation is expected to benefit thousands of OBC students across the state, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social equity and educational empowerment.
