Tripura holds regional AI awareness workshop ahead of India-AI Impact Summit 2026

Agartala, 30th January 2026:  With artificial intelligence emerging as a key driver of governance reforms and service delivery, AI adoption in India is gaining rapid momentum through major initiatives of the Government of India. Programmes such as the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence by NITI Aayog, and AI-driven applications in agriculture, healthcare, education and smart governance are shaping the country’s digital future.

In this backdrop, the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, on Friday organized a Regional-Level Awareness Workshop at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala, as part of the pre-summit outreach for the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026. The global summit will be held on February 19–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and was announced by the Prime Minister at the France AI Action Summit 2025, marking the first such event in the Global South.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, IAS, in the presence of IT Secretary Kiran Gitte, IAS, and Suprakash Jamatia, Director (In-Charge), IT. Around 350 students and faculty members from leading institutions, including NIT Agartala, NLU Tripura, IIIT and NFSU, participated.

Experts discussed Digital India initiatives and safe, inclusive AI frameworks, highlighting opportunities under the ₹10,300-crore INDIAai Mission. Emphasis was laid on future skills, innovation, application development and startup financing. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary said the initiative would prepare Tripura’s youth for future jobs while promoting inclusive, technology-driven growth across the state.
