Agartala, 7th  February 2026 :  Panic and outrage have gripped Kanchanmala Muslimpara under Amtali police station after objectionable photographs of a 12–13-year-old girl were circulated widely through mobile phones and social media. The incident has raised serious concerns about the child’s safety, dignity and future.

Local sources informed that the girl, who lost her father early in life, lives with her mother, a daily wage worker in Agartala. In the absence of proper guidance, she reportedly fell into the trap of an unknown youth who lured her with false promises of love. Trusting him, the minor shared objectionable photos and videos, which were later forwarded to several youths in the same locality, quickly going viral.

Residents say the circulation of such content has not only disrupted the girl’s normal life but also sparked questions about parental responsibility. Despite being alerted, the family has so far refrained from lodging a police complaint. Concerned locals fear that the youth may continue to exploit the situation by spreading the material further, making it difficult for the girl to face society.

Community members have urged the authorities including the Commission for Protection of Child Rights, District Child Welfare Committee, and the Department of Social Welfare & Social Education to intervene immediately. They demand a thorough investigation and strict legal action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act against the accused.

Meanwhile, criticism has mounted over the mother’s inability to safeguard her daughter, with many blaming parental negligence for the tragedy. Residents insist that unless the state machinery steps in, the girl’s future will remain at grave risk.
