Spate of burglaries leaves Udaipur subdivision residents and traders distressed

Agartala, 21st   February 2026 :   Udaipur subdivision has been reeling under repeated incidents of theft, with both residents and traders expressing growing frustration. The latest case occurred on Thursday night, when a group of burglars broke into several shops, escaping with cash. The incident has sparked anger among the business community and raised questions about police effectiveness.

According to reports, the thieves targeted three shops in the Shalgara Jamjuri area. As usual, traders had closed their establishments and returned home. On Friday morning, shopkeepers found broken locks and missing cash.

One businessman reported a loss of nearly Rs 20,000, while an adjoining automobile shop was robbed of approximately Rs 30,000. The series of thefts has triggered widespread fear across the locality.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and have launched a preliminary investigation. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to trace the culprits.
