Agartala, 28th February 2026 :   National Science Day was observed across the country today, with Tripura hosting a special state-level teachers’ training workshop under the National Children’s Science Congress 2026. The event, organized by the Tripura Science Forum, took place at the auditorium of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board.

The program was inaugurated by Minister Animesh Debbarma, who emphasized the importance of science and technology in national progress. In his address, he remarked that technical expertise is essential for India to be recognized as a developed nation. “Exporting rice varieties will not make India a developed country. Advancement in science and technology is the true measure,” he said, drawing comparisons with China’s rise through scientific innovation.

Debbarma further noted that science is based on research and evidence, not speculation. He urged students to cultivate greater interest in scientific learning, stressing that science plays a vital role in keeping pace with global changes. “With science, the nation will move forward in step with time,” he added.

Following the inaugural session, the minister visited various stalls set up at the venue, showcasing scientific projects and innovations.
