Police Seize 43 kg of Cannabis from Auto Rickshaw in Madhupur, one held

Agartala, 3rd March 2026:   Madhupur police have recovered nearly 43 kilograms of dry cannabis from the engine compartment of a passenger auto rickshaw on the Rashtarmatha–Kamlasagar road. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested in connection with the case.

According to sources, officers from Madhupur Police Station, in coordination with intelligence officials, were conducting a stakeout near the steel bridge in Madhupur West Bazaar. During the operation, the auto rickshaw driver, Uttam Dev, was spotted driving at high speed from Rashtarmatha towards Konabari. Noticing his suspicious behavior, police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search.

The inspection revealed the large quantity of cannabis carefully hidden inside the rear engine compartment of the auto rickshaw.

The driver has been taken into custody, and police are preparing to file a case against him under the Narcotics Control Act. A full investigation into the incident is underway.
