Agartala, 9th March 2026:     The Agartala Municipal Corporation has undertaken a plan to improve the beauty and usability of ponds located across the city. As part of this initiative, several ponds in different areas are being cleaned and renovated so that residents can use them properly and spend their leisure time in a pleasant environment.

On Monday, the Mayor of Agartala, Dipak Majumder, visited the Prabhu Bari pond to inspect the ongoing renovation work. After reviewing the progress on the ground, the mayor spoke to reporters about the project.

Mayor Majumder said that some portions around the pond had been illegally occupied in the past. Efforts have been made to clear as much of the encroached land as possible. He informed that the renovation work has now begun and expressed hope that the project will be completed within the next five to six months.

He also mentioned that the pond had remained abandoned for a long time, but the municipal corporation is now working to make it usable again. According to him, the Prabhu Bari pond carries historical significance associated with the royal era, making its restoration an important task.

The mayor further warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to obstruct the renovation work.

Among others present during the inspection were Corporator Ratna Dutta and officials of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
