TTAADC Elections Rescheduled to April 12

Agartala, 18th March 2026: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections have been pre-poned to April 12, 2026, following a unanimous decision by the Tripura Legislative Assembly.

Originally, the Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) had announced on March 17 that polling would take place on April 13. However, since three major tribal festivals—Gariya Puja, Biju, and Buisu—fall on that day, Assembly members and political parties requested a date change to ensure maximum voter participation.

In a press statement, the SEC noted, “These festivals are widely celebrated across the TTAADC regions. To allow all communities to take part in the elections without conflict with traditional festivities, the polling date has been revised.”

The proposal to shift the election by a day was also discussed during the Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly before being formally submitted to the SEC. Considering these factors, the Commission confirmed April 12 as the new polling date.

All other election schedule details, as outlined in the SEC press release on March 17, 2026, will remain unchanged.
