Agartala, 28th March 2026: In a late-night operation, Tripura Police from Amtali Police Station seized a vehicle loaded with suspected cannabis during a routine checkpoint inspection on the Amtali bypass road.
According to police sources, the incident took place when officers were conducting checks at a naka point. A Bolero pickup van bearing registration number TR-07-A-1834 was intercepted and searched. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying a large quantity of dried cannabis.
Preliminary reports suggest that the consignment was being transported for illegal trafficking to another state via the bypass route. The police promptly detained the vehicle and secured the contraband.
Sources indicate that the seized cannabis could be worth nearly Rs 1 crore in the illegal market. Officials stated that a formal search and seizure process will be carried out in the presence of a magistrate.
As of the time of reporting, police were awaiting the arrival of a Deputy Executive Magistrate to proceed with the official documentation and seizure procedures.
