Agartala, 3rd April 2026:     The Left Front today organised an election rally at Pecharthal in support of its candidate Sadhan Kumar Chakma for the Karamchhara Assembly constituency.

A procession preceded the public meeting, drawing a significant turnout of Left Front workers and supporters from the area. Later, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury joined the rally and addressed party supporters.

During his speech, Chaudhury launched a sharp attack on the state’s royal family, alleging that the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council was established only after prolonged struggle and sacrifice.

He said the first ADC election was scheduled in 1979, but at that time slogans were raised opposing the council, including calls to repeal the ADC Act after winning parliamentary representation.

According to Chaudhury, educated tribal youths such as Shyamcharan Tripura, Harilal Debbarma, and Bijoy Rajjal were taken to the royal palace to meet Bibhu Kumari Devi and Kirit Bikram, after which the Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti was formed.

He alleged that slogans such as “We recognize neither Red nor White; we remain subservient to no one” were deliberately crafted to mislead people living in the hill areas.

“The intention was to confuse and politically exploit the hill people,” Chaudhury claimed.

The CPI(M) candidate and other party leaders were also present at the rally.

Later in the day, another public meeting was organised at Rajkandi Bazar in support of Badarbur Halam, where Chaudhury again addressed supporters along with senior party leaders.
