Agartala, 6th April 2026: In a progressive move to strengthen HIV detection across the state, the Tripura State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) has launched an innovative initiative deploying mobile bike units in hard-to-reach areas.
For decades, TSACS has been actively implementing HIV-related programs at district, sub-division, and village levels. Under the guidance of the Health and Family Welfare Department, the society unveiled a new chapter in its outreach efforts on Saturday.
During a morning ceremony, Dr. Binita Chakma, Project Director of TSACS, inaugurated the deployment of eight mobile bike units, one for each of the state’s districts. These bikes are designed to operate in remote and hilly regions, leveraging departmental infrastructure to provide uninterrupted HIV-related services. Dr. Chakma officially flagged off the bikes and handed them over to the trained staff of eight partner NGOs, who will manage district-level outreach.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chakma remarked, “The pace of HIV detection has accelerated across the state. We have long recognized the need to expand screening services to every corner of Tripura. With these mobile units, quality HIV services will reach people anytime, anywhere, greatly benefiting the public.”
TSACS reports that HIV/AIDS initiatives in the state have seen a notable increase over the past year. The society continues to focus on providing proper treatment and support, particularly to young people affected by HIV due to drug use.
The mobile bike units are expected to make a significant impact in rural and hilly regions, ensuring pregnant women and other vulnerable populations have full access to essential HIV-related services.
